Home building surges at Tatu City
More than 40 homeowners at Kijani Ridge have received construction and design approvals for their dream homes at Tatu City, as the neighbourhood’s infrastructure takes shape. Among them, 14 owners are busy with construction of gorgeous villas on the undulating landscape of the first residential community at Tatu City, the 5,000-acre new city near Nairobi.
During the morning coffee organised for Kijani Ridge residents on 29 June, Dickson Magecha, one of the first buyers at Kijani Ridge, commended Tatu City for its controlled development environment. “Like other Kijani Ridge homeowners, I know the future value of my investment is protected by high-quality infrastructure and controlled neighbourhood design. We all will sleep well at Kijani Ridge, knowing that we will never awake to surprises around our homes,” said Magecha.
The Design & Control Committee team at Tatu City is facilitating all approvals for owners. Meantime, Tatu City’s technical team and contractors have been working tirelessly on Kijani Lakeside, ensuring the first phase of the neighbourhood’s development has first class infrastructure ready for home builders. This comprises of:
Roads
More than a kilometer of roads from Kijani Ridge’s west entrance are 100% complete. At seven metres wide with generous 2-metre pedestrian paths, they cover large, self-cleaning underground storm drains. With convenient mounting kerbs from the street, homes are easily accessible.
Sewerage
Kijani Lakeside’s connection to Tatu City’s trunk sewer network is 100% complete, as well as the sewer lines along the plot boundaries. Each plot owner will have their own dedicated manhole. Kijani Ridge residents, who have already built their homes, are using the system.
Water
Kijani Ridge’s water supply is from Tatu City’s 5,000cm3 storage tanks, via trunk HDPE pipes of 280mm in diameter. Residents can be connected to water by sending their applications to Tatu Connect, Tatu City’s utilities company. Connections will be completed within two weeks of payment of the standard connection fee.
Power
The power distribution network in Kijani Ridge is strictly underground, starting from medium voltage to low voltage. The medium voltage side of the network is complete, the step-down transformer is installed, and distribution kiosks are available to supply customers with power. Tatu Connect is already supplying power to residents completing their homes. Smart meters are provided to all residents.
