NERC Issues Two Power Generation Licenses to Alaro City

ALARO CITY TO PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE ELECTRICITY WITH HIGH-REDUNDANCY INDEPENDENT POWER PLANT

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued two power licenses to the Alaro Power Free Zone Enterprise and Alaro Connect Free Zone Enterprise at Alaro City.

The licenses allow for the independent generation and distribution of electricity within the Lekki Free Zone and enable Alaro City to start producing power using its new Independent Power Plant (IPP).

Powered by a state-of-the-art gas engine, Alaro City’s IPP has 10 megawatts of energy generation capacity. Built to the highest redundancy grade, it provides a reliable and uninterrupted 24/7 power supply for businesses and homeowners alike. Its eco-friendly features meet the industry’s best low emissions and soundproof generator standards.

“The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s decision to award us with power generation and distribution licenses in the Lekki Free Zone, proves the important role that Alaro City plays in the development of the region,” commented Ifeyinwa Nwaoyo, Alaro City FZC Utilities Manager. “Increased power generation capacity and always-on electricity will not only serve the needs of the existing 67 businesses in Alaro City, but also fuel the next chapter of our growth and development as a world-class city.”

This year, Alaro City plans to obtain ICT licenses to ensure high-speed internet access for all residents of the city. Fibre optic cable infrastructure is already being installed to seamlessly connect the city.
