The people of Appolonia, near Accra, will soon have a functional Health Post to meet their health needs. The Appolonia Development Company; a union of Rendeavour and the Appolonia community, have commenced work on the rehabilitation of the Community Health Post to bring quality health care closer to the doorsteps of the inhabitants.
The project will not only see the refurbishment of the health post. It will further connect it with electricity and provide essential healthcare infrastructure that will raise its profile to be an accredited National Health Insurance services provider.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony in Appolonia, Mr. Anthony Okyere, Ghana Country Manager for Rendeavour, said the refurbishment of the Health post was a demonstration of the company’s commitment to achieving quality healthcare delivery for the people. He assured the community that as a socially sensitive company, Rendeavour remained committed to supporting the community through interventions such as this one.
The District Director for Health, Mrs Patience Mamattah said “Public health delivery is a key concern of government” adding that a healthy population translates into an improved economy.
“It is in this vein that we are happy about the rehabilitation of the Health Post. This will no doubt increase access to quality health care delivery in the community” she stated.
The stool father of Appolonia, Elisha Nartey Dortey thanked Rendeavour for the kind gesture and pledged the community’s support for the project.
Community members present at the ceremony were excited that they will no longer have to travel long distances to access healthcare.
