On 2-5 August, Rendeavour supported President Barak Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in Washington, DC, where 500 African entrepreneurs gathered for the programme’s annual summit.
President Obama addressed the entrepreneurs, who spent six weeks in the United States as Mandela Washington Fellows, attending U.S. colleges and universities and meeting American companies to hone their entrepreneurial skills.
“We’ve brought you here because we benefit from your leadership, but we’re counting on you to work together to make sure that you’re also reaching back to those who are going to be coming behind you,” said President Obama, who announced that the programme will double in size to 1,000 YALI fellows in 2016. “Couldn’t be prouder of you,” the president said.
Rendeavour showcased its projects in Africa with a stand at the summit’s Partnership Expo.
