Rendeavour, Africa’s largest new city developer, under its women empowerment initiative, RenWoman has recently undertaken a free health screening and talk for the women in the community of Appolonia, which hosts Appolonia City.
Held in partnership with the health directorate of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), over 70 women were screened and subsequently advised on healthcare, technology and promotion of business. The event marked the 2019 edition of International Women’s Day which was under the theme #BalanceForBetter.
The programme commenced with a talk on “Cervical & Breast Cancer” by a Health Promotion Officer of KKMA, followed by a talk on “Utilising technology to enhance businesses” by Alice Mensah, marketing associate of Appolonia City.
“Technology has come to stay and we must all utilise its best features to enhance our businesses. With the internet and social media, we no longer have to pay huge sums of money to advertise. A Facebook or Instagram page to promote a business does not cost as much as a television advert. That is the power of technology to drive business growth,” she said.
Renwoman believes that a gender-balanced world is possible and everyone has a part to play. Rendeavour continually seeks to promote gender diversity across all projects. One of the key objectives is to attract, retain and develop female talent across all tiers of management.
