Dean brings 25 years of experience in urban design, having formerly served as senior partner and architect at one of Australia’s largest design firms.

Renowned for his strategic vision and place-focused approach, he has significantly influenced the field of sustainable urban development. A leading voice in the industry, Dean authored Creating Vibrant Communities, a groundbreaking book on designing 15-minute cities. His insights and expertise are sought after globally and he frequently speaks at international events, advocating for healthier, more sustainable urban environments.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dean is the CEO of the One Heart Foundation. This NGO is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children in East Africa by establishing sustainable villages that offer education and care. His humanitarian work has helped break the cycle of poverty for hundreds of children, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

Dean’s impact is further recognized through numerous awards, including the AIA Presidents Award, Young Alumni of the Year Award and a finalist spot for the Property Council of Australia’s Industry Impact Award. These accolades highlight his global contributions to building stronger communities and enhancing the quality of life for people worldwide. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Deakin University, Melbourne and the University of Nottingham. He lives in Tatu City, Kenya.
