Stephen Jennings is recognised as a trailblazer in capital markets across Africa and Central & Eastern Europe, having directed over USD 200 billion in investments to these regions.
With more than 30 years of experience in emerging markets, he has recognised track record in catalysing large-scale international capital flows and building major emerging market businesses.
Since 2012, Stephen has concentrated on Rendeavour, where he is the largest shareholder. Previously, he co-founded Renaissance Group in 1995, which became the major force in investment banking, securities, trading asset management and consumer finance throughout the former Soviet Union and the surrounding region, and subsequently, in Sub-Saharan Africa. Renaissance also built major forestry, agriculture and metals and mining businesses.
Stephen is also the founder and chairman of Renmoney, one of the leading consumer finances and fintech businesses in Nigeria.
Earlier in his career, from 1983 to 1992, Stephen worked at Credit Suisse First Boston in New Zealand and the New Zealand Treasury. He also advised the New Zealand and Australian governments on privatisation. He has a bachelor’s degree in business, Massey University; MPhil (Hons) in Economics, University of Auckland, New Zealand. Stephen divides his time between Tatu City in Kenya and Alaro City in Nigeria.
