Racers put rubber to road at Tatu City

More than 4,000 motor racing enthusiasts from across East Africa were treated to top-class tarmac racing at Tatu City on 19-20 October. Fifty drivers participated in the event showcasing their racing skill and passion for driving while fans enjoyed nyama choma and entertainment at the family village.

Day 1 saw drivers racing through a set circuit using prescribed manoeuvres at the Tatu City customs area, while the spectators, tucked safely at the Tatu City Airfield, had a spectacular view of the race. Kenyan hit makers, The Kansoul, drove fans wild with their performance at the Johnny Walker after-party. The action went on at the drag race on Day 2, pitting drivers against each other in a straight-line race. Umang Soni, driving a Mitsubishi Evo IX, out-manoeuvred other drivers to take home the gymkhana trophy, and Sufian Yusuf left the competition in the dust to clinch the drag race title.

Throughout the adrenaline-filled weekend fans were able to view the amenities, homes and businesses at the 5,000-acre Tatu City.
