Tatu City launches school meals programme

Tatu City has today launched a meals programme for Tatu Primary School, which will enhance nutrition and encourage pupils to attend school.

During the academic year, the programme will provide mid-day meals to 250 children and staff of Tatu Primary School, a government-funded institution adjacent to Tatu City.

Speaking during the official announcement of the programme, Tatu City’s Acting CEO, Anthony Njoroge emphasised that nutrition is critical to a child’s education, as it enables them to focus on the day’s lessons.

“In addition to the school feeding programme, Tatu City is also planning to rehabilitate the facilities by providing the school with new furniture and education materials, such as books and other learning tools, which will go a long way towards helping the pupils learn in a secure and conducive environment,” said Njoroge.

The school meals program will give both parents and pupils added incentive to focus on their children’s education, knowing that a nutritious meal awaits them every day.

“We welcome Tatu City’s generous support for Tatu Primary School,” said Agnes W. Kigotho, the school’s Head Teacher. “The meals program will go a long way toward improving the health, concentration, enrolment, and retention of children in school for the long term.”

Tatu City is a 2,500-acre, mixed-use and mixed-income development with residential, commercial, industrial, tourism, social and recreation amenities for more than 100,000 residents and 30,000 day visitors.
