Job description

The Head of Sales and Marketing is responsible for developing and delivering sales strategies across Tatu City, in conjunction with the Executive Vice President and Country Head, Kenya. The positon will coordinate and implement key initiatives tied to achieving revenue targets for Rendeavour’s real estate products, which include serviced residential plots, turnkey homes, industrial areas, commercial buildings and bulk land. The role will also focus on leading and managing all marketing for the Tatu City and all sub-development brands. Additionally, it will focus on innovation, performance and tracking of key sales drivers and working alongside the current Heads of Commercial and Residential Sales and the Marketing Manager.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver sales and cash collection in accordance with the agreed Kenya business plan.
  • Oversee Heads of Commercial and Residential Sales in Kenya, setting weekly, monthly, and annual goals, and tracking these goals on a regular basis, through interactions as well as the CRM;
  • Manage the CRM as it relates to Kenya sales, marketing and customer care, analyzing available data, gathering new data and providing recommendations about it.
  • Responsibility over all Kenya sales reports to ensure tracking of sales performance against budget and flagging variances;
  • Ensure the Kenya sales strategy is aligned with marketing plans, and vice versa.
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve and/or enhance the current sales processes, including but not limited to sales forecasting techniques;
  • Conduct regular team meetings and offer advice and incentives for achieving goals;
  • Use data to drive decisions about new product development;
  • Stay current on the real estate industry, benchmarking Rendeavour/Tatu against best-in-class real estate products and developments; through attending events and industry-related conferences in our markets;
  • In coordination with HR Department, train local resources, build capacity and institutional knowledge, conduct interviews and hire real estate and other sales staff;
  • Ensure compliance with Group Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy.

Marketing-specific objectives

  • Lead and manage all marketing and communications for the Tatu City brand and all sub-development brands.
  • Build awareness through thought-out, staged communications and a deliver an annual marketing plan in conjunction with all relevant departments.
  • Identify groups of stakeholders and engage team members and agencies in Kenya to build awareness of, and trust and loyalty to, the brand. Manage the agencies accordingly.
  • Analyze existing PR environment and brand perception with target audiences, identify key risks to the brand from the PR & marketing perspective.
  • Coordinate all work and strategies with Heads of Sales and Marketing Manager to ensure clear targets for lead generation are upheld and the tracking of leads is maintained via the CRM system.
  • Manage owned digital platforms – generating relevant content and update as required.
  • Oversee advertising in all relevant channels and the creation of marketing materials. Supervise and guide appointed vendors on the brand vision and graphic design elements to be incorporated into the marketing materials.
  • Manage, generate and deliver all content in a professional and concise manner aligned with the house style of the company.
  • Create regular direct marketing communication with relevant internal/external stakeholders including newsletters, press releases and opinion pieces.
  • Create key messaging best matching current business needs – work with internal parties to develop unified communication.
  • Identify and promote the business’ talent pool (spokespersons) through target commentary and interviews in business and trade media.
  • Create awareness of the business through thought leadership programs, placement of opinion pieces, etc.
  • Ensure the company utilizes available speaking opportunities within high-level third-party events.
  • Deliver consistent reporting on all marketing communication activity and monitor and adjust marketing plans on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Develop and deliver a multi-product marketing budget to time and under budget.
  • Manage crises issues that may arise.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by line manager.

Skills and experience

  1. Minimum 10 years of relevant sales and marketing management experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential real estate; with proven track record of delivering revenue-generation targets and driving sales growth;
  2. Demonstrable knowledge of Sales & Marketing content, collateral and programs designed to build targeted leads.
  3. Extensive experience using a CRM as a primary tool of sales and marketing tracking;
  4. Professional sales and marketing training and/or qualifications would be a strong advantage;
  5. Demonstrable knowledge of Sales & Marketing content, collateral and programs designed to build targeted leads.
  6. Excellent data analysis skills;
  7. Effective development/project management skills;
  8. Excellent budgeting skills;
  9. Excellent reporting skills;
  10. Proven commercial aptitude
  11. Good knowledge and understanding of legal and financial aspects of real estate development.
