Job description
The Project Accountant, Ghana is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, preparing and following up on expense requests, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist with payment processing within agreed timelines and parameters
- Manages various accounts processes like the payables, receivables/deposits and IPCs
- Assist the financial controller with the month-end close process and the month-end reports
- Sub account/petty cash account monitoring and reporting
- Bank balance reporting
- Assist with internal and external audit process by preparing audit schedules and submitting all supporting documents
- Prepare relevant schedules such as prepayment schedules, depreciation schedules, WHT payable schedules, intercompany schedules, loan schedules
- Assist the financial controller in the preparation of the monthly cash flow reports submitted to group finance
- Assist with the preparation of the group quarterly report using the prescribed group reporting template
Assist with the monthly statutory filing and monthly tax accounts (VAT, WHT, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
Skills and experience:
- Degree in accounting or finance from a recognized university with 2 – 3 years hands-on experience
- Big 4 accounting training/experience is a plus
- Real estate or construction industry experience preferential
- Good understanding of IFRS
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (complex formulae, sensitivity analysis )
- Cash flow forecast and analysis, budgeting
- Experience in year-end audits and financial statement preparation
- Ability to implement new accounting and/or reporting systems and internal controls Software: Sage or similar
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to present information clearly in a report or presentation to senior management;
- Good understanding of and ability to apply basic concepts in accounting and finance
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Mature, pragmatic and flexible approach, good commercial judgment;
